Virtual Forest Bathing

Please contact us if you would like to set up a private, virtual walk or be notified when walks are available.

I experienced three walks, each in a different location and each one was unique and inspiring. Regardless of the setting, whether it was inside my house or outside, the connection to nature and sense of discovery was amazing and unexpected. I will definitely sign up for more walks.
This is just what we need right now.

You can be anywhere: Backyard / Inside Your Home / Garden / Park

Join from any part of the World.

Everyone is Welcome. Come as you are.

No experience necessary; just an open heart and willingness to connect.

This 2-hour guided walk, whether done inside or outside, supports the remembering that we are all connected to each other and all life. I will offer this walk from the forest of Mt. Tabor near my home in Portland, Oregon. You will receive a series of sensory invitations to promote peace and calm. I invite you to explore your body and heart’s innate wisdom and participate in the cultivation of resilience in community!

HOW CAN FOREST BATHING / FOREST THERAPY SUPPORT YOU?

Connection to the natural world increases our general well-being and also boosts our immune system. By slowing down and being present, we offer our bodies, minds, and hearts a nourishing break from the daily stress and challenges we are currently facing. Forest Bathing is a practice that calms the nervous system and reminds us to be present to the gift of life.

***I recognize that many of us are spending more time on the computer and may feel overwhelmed by online offerings. This “walk” will give you time to explore, be curious, engage the senses, be tactile, and mostly be off your screen.

***People are joining these walks from inside their home and having beautiful experiences.

WHAT IS FOREST THERAPY?

“Forest Therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Forest Therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to "forest bathing." Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition. We build on those benefits and look beyond, to what happens when people remember that we are a part of nature, not separate from it, and are related to all other beings in fundamental ways”.

“If you will stay close to nature, to its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable,
those things can unexpectedly become great and immeasurable.”
—Rainer Maria Rilke

HOW IT WORKS - 4 EASY STEPS

  1. Download Zoom App to your phone - https://zoom.us/

  2. Find a place in nature near where you are (backyard, park, etc.) that feels safe and you can be for 2 hours.
Inside your home is also great.

  3. At the time of the walk, use the link and password that is sent when you register.

  4. Make sure you have good reception, headphones, and that your phone is charged so that you have enough battery for the 2 hours. If you have an extra battery, you may want to bring it. You can turn your video on / off to save battery.

DETAILS:

  • I will be guiding the walk in nature via the Zoom platform.

  • Have one headphone in your ear. You should be able to hear what is going on around you.

  • Before the walk I will offer clear instructions on how to participate.

  • There will be times for optional sharing.

TIPS:

  • If joining from home: sit by a window / place houseplants near you / bring treasures you have collected from nature.

  • If you will be outside: dress warmly and bring layers / bring something to sit on/ bring tea for after the walk.

  • Be aware of any potential hazards in your area (plants, animals, etc.)

I learned that I have the tools to provide calm for myself. I learned to slow down and see the beautiful things that are happening around me even while the chaos is still here in our world.
